Kevin Dunnigan, a Certified Financial Planner™ with Investment Center Advisor Group, knows how important his financial planning work is for his clients. Coming from a family of doctors, Kevin approaches financial planning in the same way his father and brothers approach medicine, by listening to the goals and objectives of the individual and seeking the best solutions. He has found that most people find their health and their money of utmost importance, and the two go hand-in-hand. If an individual is doing the best they can with their money and finances, it has a positive impact on their health and longevity. Bad money decisions cause stress, which can negatively affect a person’s health. Kevin explains, "In my years of working with clients, I can share that there is a strong correlation between health and money, mismanagement of either puts a strain on the other."

Kevin began his career in Bismarck, North Dakota in 1984, then moved his business and family to Northwest Montana in 1988. With a desire to be somewhere with mountains and warmer weather, they moved once again to Colorado in 1999. Family is incredibly important to Kevin, and Kevin sees his clients as an extension of his family. One of the circumstances Kevin addresses when meeting with clients is what happens to the surviving spouse when the other passes. He makes a point of letting each client know that he will strive to provide the surviving spouse, with the confidence to manage their financial planning needs and goals.

One such client was a man named Larry, who was diagnosed with cancer. Kevin worked towards comprehensive financial planning in their 18-year relationship, and aimed to provide financial planning guidance to his wife if something should happen to Larry. Larry was appreciative to have a financial advisor care so much about his personal life and his family. After Larry passed away, his widow came to Kevin with a gift. Larry had hand-carved a duck from wood, a gesture of his gratitude towards Kevin, created in the last months of his life. Kevin is an avid outdoorsman, and enjoys duck hunting, which was something that Larry came to know as the two of them met on many occasions while striving to create a comprehensive financial plan for his family’s future.

Kevin and his team recently remodeled and moved into the new ICA building at 290 E. 25th St., in Loveland. Out of that building, Investment Center Advisor Group manages investments for over 4,000 clients in Northern Colorado and nationwide. According to Kevin, the Investment Center and Advisor Group has, “professional and knowledgeable staff in the industry.” Larry’s duck is a focal point in the space and acts as a reminder of how important their work is to their clients, and their clients’ families.
